Thanks, Lindsay, for the tip about Ali's site. I'll have to let my daughter know about it (if she hasn't found it already). She's into fabric art and mixed media.

Every time Ali Edwards does a giveaway, her traffic shoots sky high (but she's a known "celebrity" in the scrapbooking world.) I'm a data person and too lazy to go look but I think 700 comments would be pretty normal over there.

The giveaway she's running tonight has over 1400 comments - apparently her traffic is growing!

Thanks, Lindsay, for posting my question and your answer. I'm enjoying the responses of your readers, too. I hope this discussion helps other bloggers who are wondering about the usefulness of giveaways.

I do find, when I offer a giveaway, I receive more responses if I post notice of it on sites/blogs that make a habit (or business) of contest postings. Apparently readers, who are interested in giveaways, seek these out and respond. Bloggy Giveaways is one that generates "beaucoup, beaucoup" viewers to one's blog.

I agree with Dusty and Yan...I hope the viewers stay around for the content I'm providing, too. And check out the ads!

(Incidentally, my daughter was thrilled to win a giveaway at a beading/jewelry blog recently. She visits regularly and found this an added bonus or reward.)
