If you sign up for a free blog at Wordpress.com (and have an address such as yourblog.wordpress.com), you're bound by their terms of service, and I believe they have some limits on placing ads and what not. For more on installing Wordpress on your server, you can read the instructions on http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress I also noticed that they have a free installation service now, so that might make things easier. :) Good luck all!
